| I installed the tool,no problems.Get character.xml missing on startup.i'm assuming that is because I have no character loaded yet.But that is the problem.wordpad can't open the manual, just repeats error message.I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with the resources zip i also downloaded,or even if I have to do anything with it.Also,no idea how to load a profile.I went to the FAQ,were only 5 subjects there, nothing that helped.
Any info would be appreciated.Btw,the message I get is that it can't open the graphics conversion for Wordpad. |

| | I'm not sure why you're having issues with the manual, although it seems to be something with the graphics in it. However, it's a Microsoft Word Document file, so while being extremely messy, even an extremely simple text editor like Notepad should be able to open it. Anyhow, I'm guessing that the Manual not opening is a lesser inconvenience in relation to not being able to run the GWFreaks Program itself. So, I'm going to focus on that issue. The error message of a missing character file is almost certainly caused by having an account XML file that references a nonexistent character.xml file. For Example, lets say in the "GWFreaks\Templates\Accounts" folder you only have one file labeled "MyAccount.xml" and when opened with a text editor you get the following <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?> <Account xmlns="http://www.gwfreaks.com/ns/GW" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <Name>MyAccount</Name> <Characters> <Character> <Name>mhy perso2</Name> <Link>mhy perso2.xml</Link> </Character> <Character /> <Character /> <Character /> </Characters> <Unlocks> etc... so on and so forth etc... etc... =) What you can see is after the first "<Character> you have <Name>mhy perso2</Name> and <Link>mhy perso2.xml</Link> The link is in reference to the file it's not finding when the program opens. Whenever I've gotten the message, the program has always opened anyhow, but every situation is different, fortunately this particular problem is relatively simple to fix. Essentially you have two viable alternatives, either copy and rename an existing "GWFreaks\templates\characters\character.xml" file to match the name found in the Link line, or simply edit the MyAccount.xml file deleting the Name, and Link lines. (Note: the error message should display the exact name & location of the file it's missing, so you don't need to look at the MyAccount.xml file if you are just going to copy and rename an existing character file.) Hope that helps, ~Undead Priest |
